Cannes Lions 2011: Gold award in outdoor ‘Stunts and Live Advertising’ goes to Saatchi & Saatchi, London

Saatchi & Saatchi London scooped a hat-trick of awards at this years’ Cannes Lion Festival, winning a Gold Award in the Outdoor, Stunts & Live Advertising for T-Mobile ‘Welcome Back’, and a Silver in the Film, Commercial Public Services category for the same work.

‘Welcome Back’ is the fourth iteration in the ‘Life’s for Sharing’ campaign created by Saatchi & Saatchi for T-Mobile.  The TV ad saw Heathrow T5 arrivals being greeted by a 300 strong crowd spontaneously bursting into song, giving the weary travellers a welcome back they would never forget.

“It's great to win another gold lion for T Mobile. This one for Welcome Back will sit nicely alongside our BTAA Commercial of the year” comments Paul Silburn, Creative Partner, Saatchi & Saatchi, London.

To top off the Gold and Silver wins, Saatchi also won a Bronze in Media, Best Use of Special Events & Stunt/Live Advertising for T-Mobile ‘Welcome Back’.

The results for the campaign speak for themselves, with T-Mobile experiencing record footfall following the start of the campaign and ‘Welcome Back’ now having had 9 million hits on the ‘Life’s for Sharing’ Youtube Channel.

The ad was written and art directed by Rick Dodds and Steve Howell and creative directed by Paul Silburn and Kate Stanners.

This recognition from Cannes in 2011 follows numerous accolades for Saatchi & Saatchi's T-Mobile 'Life's for Sharing' campaign, including 10 awards at Cannes. Last year Saatchi also won a Gold award in Outdoor Stunts & Live Advertising for T-Mobile 'Singalong'.
