Saatchi & Saatchi launches campaign for the Marketing Hall of Legends’ Marketing Academy

12 FEB 2010

A new print campaign from Saatchi & Saatchi will run in the marketing trade press and online during February to launch the UK arm of the Marketing Hall of Legends’ ‘Marketing Academy’.

The Marketing Academy is a unique charity that will take 25 of the brightest and best young marketers in the UK and help better equip them to become the industry leaders of tomorrow by providing them with free mentoring from some of the most successful figures in the industry.

The print campaign by Saatchi & Saatchi is a pastiche of iconic British ads of the last decade including Cadbury ‘Gorilla’, The Number 118 118 and VW ‘Cops’ that each look like they have been recreated by children. The ads use the line ‘Do you know a born marketing talent?’ inspiring businesses to nominate a promising young employee.news_118_118release.jpg

To accompany the print campaign the agency has also created a You Tube film recreating the Channel 4 ident in a child’s room.  It is carefully made up of what first appears to be a mess of children’s toys, but then as the camera pans round the Channel 4 appears made up of stacked toys.

Executive Creative Partner of Saatchi & Saatchi Paul Silburn said: “Our campaign taps into the truth that the best people in our industry were inspired to come into it by the brands and campaigns they grew up with.” The Marketing Hall of Legends is made up of over 50 industry-leading mentors, who have all agreed to give their time for free. They include Robert Senior, CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi Fallon Group, Mark Lund, CEO of the COI, Phil Rumbol, Marketing Director of Cadbury, Andy Fennell, CMO of Diageo and Helen Kellie of BBC Worldwide, to name but a few. (full list attached).

The Marketing Academy scholars will receive world class mentoring from these leading individuals and companies across the industry. Scholarships are free but individuals must be nominated by their employer and then complete a rigorous selection procedure before being accepted into the Academy for their part time, 12 month learning experience.

With access to the support, advice and mentoring to nurture their talent, these young hopefuls will become the next generation of business leaders.

The Head of the Marketing Hall of Legends UK Sherilyn Shackell said:

“The Marketing Academy aims to inspire and develop the absolute best marketing talent of today to become the industry leaders of tomorrow. I have been amazed and delighted by the support we have received from all our mentors and supporters, and cannot wait to begin the work of welcoming the scholars in as they embark upon their development journey across the year.”
